Welcome to GRIT ("App," "we," "our," or "us"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our mobile application. We are committed to protecting your privacy and being transparent about our data practices.

GRIT is designed with a privacy-first approach. All your data is stored locally on your device, and we do not collect, transmit, or store any personal information on external servers.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Information Stored Locally on Your Device

The following information is stored only on your device and is never transmitted to us or any third parties:

• Challenge definitions (names, tasks, durations, rules)
• Daily progress records (completed tasks, dates, flex day usage)
• User preferences (notification settings, selected challenges)
• Achievement records
• Custom challenge configurations

2.2 Apple Health Data (If Authorized)

If you choose to grant access to Apple Health, the App may read the following data types:

• Daily step counts (aggregated totals)
• Workout durations (aggregated total minutes)
• Active energy burned (for future features)
• Walking/running distance (for future features)

Important: Health data is read-only and is never stored permanently within GRIT. The App only queries this data on-demand to auto-complete tasks when Health metrics are met. This data remains within Apple's Health app; GRIT does not write any data to Apple Health.

2.3 Information We Do NOT Collect

GRIT does not collect:

• Personal identifiable information (name, email, phone number)
• Location data
• Photos (progress photos are stored in your iOS Photos app, not within GRIT)
• Usage analytics or behavioral tracking data
• Device identifiers or advertising IDs
• Any information transmitted to external servers

3. How We Use Information

All data stored by GRIT is used solely to provide the App's functionality:

• Track your progress on fitness and personal development challenges
• Display statistics and completion history
• Auto-complete tasks based on Apple Health metrics (if authorized)
• Send local notifications (if enabled)
• Allow data export for your personal records

4. Data Sharing and Third Parties

4.1 We Do Not Share Your Data

GRIT does not share any data with third parties. Because all data is stored locally on your device, we have no access to your information and therefore cannot share it.

4.2 User-Initiated Sharing

You may choose to export your data to CSV format using the App's export feature. Once exported, you control where this file goes (email, cloud storage, etc.). GRIT does not track or control how you share exported files.

4.3 No Third-Party Analytics

We do not use third-party analytics services, advertising networks, or tracking technologies. Your data stays on your device.

5. Apple Health Integration

5.1 Purpose

GRIT integrates with Apple Health solely to auto-complete challenge tasks based on your fitness metrics (steps, workout minutes). This integration is entirely optional.

5.2 How It Works

• You grant one-time permission via iOS Health authorization.
• The App queries Health data in real-time throughout the day.
• Health data is never stored permanently in GRIT.
• The App reads data only; it never writes to Apple Health.

5.3 Your Control

You can deny Health access and still use all other App features. You can revoke access at any time via iOS Settings > Privacy & Security > Health > GRIT.

6. Data Security

Your data is protected by:

• iOS native encryption (Data Protection API)
• Encryption at rest when your device is locked
• Local-only storage with no network transmission

Because GRIT does not transmit data externally, there is no risk of interception during transmission.

7. Data Retention and Deletion

7.1 Retention

Your data persists on your device until you choose to delete it. There is no automatic data deletion.

7.2 Deletion Options

• Delete individual challenges within the App
• Clear all App data via the Settings menu
• Delete the App from your device (removes all GRIT data)

7.3 iOS Backups

If you have iCloud Backup or iTunes backups enabled, your GRIT data may be included in those backups. This is controlled by your iOS settings, not by GRIT.

8. Your Privacy Rights

Because all data is stored locally on your device, you have full control over your information:

• Right to Access: View all your data within the App and export it to CSV.
• Right to Deletion: Delete any or all data at any time.
• Right to Portability: Export your data in CSV format for use elsewhere.
• Right to Opt-Out: There is no tracking to opt out of.

For users in the European Union (GDPR) or California (CCPA), please note that because we do not collect or process personal data on external servers, there are no data processing agreements or sub-processors involved.

9. Children's Privacy

GRIT is rated 4+ and does not contain content inappropriate for children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children under 13, because we do not collect personal information at all.

Parents and guardians can monitor their children's device usage through standard iOS parental controls.

10. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make changes, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this policy. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.

12. Additional Information for California Residents

Under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), California residents have specific rights regarding their personal information. Because GRIT does not collect, sell, or share personal information, there is no information to disclose, delete, or opt out of selling.

We do not sell personal information to third parties.

13. International Users

GRIT is currently available in the United States App Store. All data remains on your device regardless of your location. If you use the App outside the United States, please be aware that your local data protection laws may differ from U.S. laws.
